Content Marketing Specialist I

Position Description:


The Content Marketing Specialist I is responsible for implementing the content strategy by writing, producing, and editing content to be used across the full spectrum of marketing communications and digital media (80%). This position also assists with general Marketing projects (20%).


The Content Marketing Specialist I works closely with members of the Marketing team, Management team, and other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within DataServ to deliver content that creates brand awareness, illustrates our value proposition, and effectively educates clients and prospects.


The Content Marketing Specialist I reports to the Manager, Marketing or Director, Sales/Marketing.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Essential Functions

Content

  • Maintains a strong understanding of DataServ solutions and value offered to clients and translates this information into marketing content, on-line demos and videos.
  • Supports demand generation activities and boosts brand awareness with appropriate content and downloadable content for targeted personas to engage this audience.
  • Manages the content curation process including blogs, social media downloadable website resources/interaction, and site copy with emphasis on SEO effectiveness.
  • Serves as the content owner of engaging blogs, video scripts, case studies, and brochures that deliver DataServ subject matter expertise.
  • Collaborates with internal teams, designers, external influencers and industry experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of both key stakeholders and our audience.
  • Creates up to two free resources each month to drive leads, subscribers, awareness and other important metrics.
  • Produces blogging on an ongoing basis to support/promote DataServ solutions and attract site visitors through search, social media and email subscribers.
  • Composes company news including press release writing that focuses on relevancy to DataServ buyers.
  • Analyzes website metrics Weekly? Monthly? and forwards to Manager/Director.
  • Assists Business Development/Sales team draft effective lead nurture campaigns.
  • Stays informed of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Human Resources industry trends and news.

Design

  • Assists the Marketing team with basic design work for banner ads, one-pagers iconography, social media posts, eBooks, infographics, and solution set brochures.
  • Mindful of the company's brand including positioning, brand statements, logos, brand elements, and trademarks when creating content.
  • Assists Marketing team with video production of explainer videos and case studies.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


This job operates in a professional office environment or can operate remotely. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. As a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company, employee must be technically savvy with the ability to use the computer/keyboard to conduct business.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK


This is a full-time, exempt position with days of work Monday through Friday and with hours scheduled around core hours of operation. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.


TRAVEL


Little to no travel is expected for this position. If this position is remote and outside the St. Louis area, travel is anticipated 2-4 times per year to stay in touch with team members and the Manager.


REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in Business to Business (B2B) marketing.
  • Experience with basic content design using a variety of tools.
  • Experience producing content for the web specifically as well as channel specific (LinkedIn, Twitter)
  • Experience with search engine optimization (SEO) required.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop/InDesign)??? Required or Preferred?

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


  • Experience in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or software related field preferred.
  • Experience with content design tools Adobe Suite, Canva preferred.
  • Experience with video production preferred.
  • Experience with Sales Engagement Platform (SalesLoft) preferred.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS


  • Able to interview SMEs and then develop short and long form content independently.
  • Must exhibit strong written, verbal and listening communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise communications.
  • Exceptional grammar, editing, and proof-reading skills.
  • Willingness to receive feedback on work product yet champion for the best final product.
  • Ability to balance independent work with stakeholder collaboration.
  • Strong advocate for team approach to marketing department success.
  • Ability and desire to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
